All race dates and venues have been provided by PICL. Please note that race dates can be subject to change due to severe weather.

All team activities are preliminary and will be updated as we get closer to each event. The team generally tries to encourage team dinners to allow the kids & parents to socialize. All family members are welcome to those events.

On race days, the team will spend time under their team tent in the Pitzone. We will ask parents to assist with certain aspects of the race day, such as volunteering for parking lot, bringing team nutrition or assisting with tent set-up. Generally parents are asked to leave the tents during the races but families are allowed to spectate along the trail, start and finish line. Bring your cowbells to cheer on your athlete!

Lodging: Most venues have camping options. Some families have shared AirBNB houses near venues to save costs. Nearby hotels are listed for each venue based on past stays. They typically are selected by convenience/ distance to race venue.

Grinnin’ at Granite – Gettysburg

Race Venue

We head to the Granite Hill Camping Resort, home of the world famous Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival, to do our own little boogie in the woods. Bring your RV or tent—this is one of the few venues that permits camping and there’s plenty for the whole family to do. The resort includes a miniature golf course, pond with paddle boats, and arcade. But the real action is on the trails, which the Adams County Composite Team has helped develop and maintain. At times tight and twisty, and wide open in other places, the course offers a little of everything. Get ready for some steep climbs, gravel sprints, and finding your flow on the freshly cut creekside single track. The action comes fast and the rhythm doesn’t stop till you cross the finish line.

Big Boyce Ring – Pittsburgh

Race Venue

Just outside of the Steel City, Boyce Park is just one of many mountain bike havens in the Allegheny County Park system. Boyce is a  short drive from downtown Pittsburgh, but it doesn’t feel like you are that close to PA’s second largest city once you get on these trails. With an access road running like a spine at this course, this is a super spectator-friendly venue, with some high-quality singletrack. Thanks to Trail Pittsburgh for preserving these trails!

This race is held at the Ski Lodge area at Boyce Park. You will park in the immediate area in assigned parking lots.

Fair Hill PICL Rally – Elkton, MD

Race Venue

We head just south of the Mason Dixon line for our race at Fair Hill natural resource management area in Elkton, Maryland. Once owned by the du Pont family, this nearly 6,000 acres is host to some world-class horse facilities and steeped in history. The old growth forests and scenic pastures make for a great race venue. Riders will be treated with fun, twisty single track separated by practice fields that were used by Olympic equestrians on their way to Rio. This will be no horse race though; riders will face a challenging series of climbs and descents.

Raystown Radness PICL Jam – Hesston, PA

Race Venue

36 Miles of single track trails. Designed by mountain bikers and built by the International Mountain Bicycling Association, the Allegrippis Trails at Raystown Lake is a premier single-track mountain biking trail system located in the Eastern United States.

The 24 trails in the system were designed and built to provide sustainable trails for a variety of human uses including mountain biking, hiking, trail running, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.  The Allegrippis Trails are arranged as stacked loops, giving the user the opportunity to plan a route as short or as long as they would like. There are nearly endless combinations, so even riders who come back time after time have the opportunity to use a new route each time.

Although the trails are rated “easiest”, “moderate”, and “most difficult”, they can all be safely traversed by users of all skill levels, but users should expect their normal pace to be slowed as the difficulty increases. The ratings are provided to give all users a good idea of what challenges to expect. These ratings only apply to trails in the Allegrippis Trails system, they should not be compared to other trails or their difficulties.
