As we are entering PICL Season 10, we think it’s time to highlight some of our amazing coaches who volunteer their talents & skills, dedicate their time, and often share resources with our students and families on the team.
We couldn’t do this without you, thank you for being a mentor and coach!
Our team frequently would run into Aaron and his daughter Addie, while riding bikes at Jordan Creek. We invited them to our GRiT camp to get started and the rest is history.
Coach Aaron achieved his level 3 license by the end of his first season. As a great supporter of GRiT and more kids on bikes, we are thrilled to have him as one of our amazing coaches on board!
We asked our coaches a few questions so we can get to know them a bit better:
When did you join the team as a coach?
This will be my second year
* Aaron is currently a level 3 coach for the Emmaus team and a strong supporter for our GRiT program
Do you only ride mountain bikes?
Mostly, but I also have a road bike and a gravel bike.
What’s your why?
It started out as an excuse to spend more time with my daughter, but everyone, from the other kids to the coaches, is so much fun to be around. It’s so inspiring seeing the kids improve every time we ride.
Have you ever raced bikes?
A few of us coaches and kids have been doing the MASS races this spring.
What other sports do you enjoy or even compete in?
Trail running
Tell us about your favorite trails.
The last one I rode.
Pretty much any trail I ride I have a great time. But if it has some fun, fast downhills then it will stick in mind that much longer.

What’s your best advice for parents new to the team and league?
Come ride with the team at a practice. And if your kid wants to do it, come to the races. The community is awesome and so supportive.
And lastly; what advice do yo have for our students when it comes to joining the team, perhaps unsure about racing or what to expect from being part of a MTB team?
Remember to have fun, first and foremost. Mountain biking is a life long sport, so you absolutely do not have to race to enjoy it.
See how you feel after a few weeks of practice. You might be surprised at how much you have improved!
I lied, this one is last: If you were an animal, which one would you be and why?
Falcon. They’re super fast and they can fly.
