Bridgette Reid – Meet the coaches

As we are entering PICL Season 10, we think it’s time to highlight some of our amazing coaches who volunteer their talents & skills, dedicate their time, and often share resources with our students and families on the team.

We couldn’t do this without you, thank you for being a mentor and coach!

Bridgette is a new level 1 coach this season, but she is not an unfamiliar face. This PICL Alumni graduated in 2024, so her final season racing with us ended in 2023. After a short hiatus she couldn’t stay away and is returning to give back to the team and community! Welcome back, coach!

We asked our coaches a few questions so we can get to know them a bit better:

When did you join the team as a coach?

This is my first year as a coach, but I’ve been a part of NICA/PICL for about 3 years.

Do you only ride mountain bikes?

Yes, I only ride mountain bikes. I really enjoy my Roscoe 7 bike.

What’s your why?

What motivates me to coach this season is seeing athletes achieve their goals, whether it’s building endurance or overcoming an obstacle for the first time. I also really enjoy seeing athletes support and encourage each other; that kind of teamwork and growth is incredibly rewarding.

Have you ever raced bikes?

I have only ever race MTBs.

What other sports do you enjoy or even compete in?

I was on a swim team from the time I was 6 years old until 10th grade. I also enjoyed participating in marching band, which I did throughout my high school years.

Tell us about your favorite trails.

My favorite trails are Nockamixon, Jordan Creek, Trexler and Raystown.

What’s your best advice for parents new to the team and league?

For parents who are new to the team and league, it’s important to regularly check your emails and TeamSnap to stay up to date, especially for changes like practice cancellations or schedule adjustments due to weather.

And lastly; what advice do yo have for our students when it comes to joining the team, perhaps unsure about racing or what to expect from being part of a MTB team?

If you are unsure about racing, I would say Do It.
I recommend going to a race weekend to get a feel for how it works.

I lied, this one is last: If you were an animal, which one would you be and why?

If I were an animal, I would be a dog, specifically a Greyhound, because I enjoy racing, and Greyhounds are known for their speed and racing ability.
